Pavlovo Posad shawls
The shawls produced at the Pavlovo Posad Shawl Manufactory are considered to be the traditional Russian shawls. The artists of the manufactory managed to create such the bright, colorful patterns and decorate the shawl in the traditional Russian style. Pavlovsky-Posad manufactury was founded in 1795 by Russian merchants Y.Labzin and V.Gryaznov. At the beginning of the 20th century the manufactories by Labzin and Gryaznov were the largest in Russia amongst the other factories that produced wool shawls and scarves. After the revolution of 1917 the factory changed the name to Staro-Pavlovsky manufactory and kept producing cotton shawls and sometimes old ones by the old patterns. But only in 1950 the production of wool printed shawls was finally restored. The artists of the modern manufactory started to create the brand new patterns with new colors, new ornaments. Nowadays Pavlovo Posad shawls are so popular that just became a symbol of Russia.
