Russian Matryoshka  dolls

 Matreshka dolls or Russian nesting dolls produced since the 19th century. Matrioshka is a set of dolls of decreasing sizes inserted one inside the other. Traditionally dolls in the set were painted as women or girls in typical Russian costumes. Why girls? Because the name of Matryoshka dolls is a derivative of the Russian female first name "Matryona", this female name has a latin root from the word “mater”. That is why Matryoshka dolls usually were associated with the motherhood and prosperity.
